Tripods & Winches

The Sala P-W60L / P-W120L Total Control Winches The P-W60L and P-W120L full man riding, wire rope winch, has a braked lowering facility and a safety overload, this ensures the wearer cannot be injured in a recovery situation. The winch offers a free wheel lowering facility which is controlled by the top man. This facility has a built in overspeed brake with energy absorbing capacity, similar to self retracing life lines, and so gives added fall protection. As with all Sala winches the unit has a quick fit mount which fits directly to either P-T7 or P-T9 tripods. The P-W60L offers an 18.5 metre cable and the P-W120L a 37 metre cable.

The Sala Integra R offers a 15m fall arrestor with an emergency winch feature, which allows for retrieval in either direction, up or down. The emergency winch is activated by pulling the handle knob out and pushing the handle boss in. The unit has a wear tag, built into the karabiner, this allows for an easy inspection check, to ensure it has not received a severe shock and requires servicing. As with all Sala products the 580R can be fitted to either P-T7 or P-T9 tripods via a quick fit bracket as detailed. The wire rope is drawn out as the operative requires it and should a fall occur will lock. This ensures the operative the freedom of movement, without relying on the top man to pay out the correct amount of line. As the 580R is a fall arrest retrieve block, it must be remembered that the unit must be used in conjunction, with either step irons, or a ladder. The winch facility is for emergency use only, it is not intended for full man riding purposes.

The Sala DBS12 is a 12 metre fall arrestor ideal for any situation where a fall is possible. The unit allows the operative to move freely unless a fall occurs, if this happens the unit locks until the weight is released. The unit has a visual shock indicator which shows if the unit requires servicing before its normal service interval.

Yale Fall Arrestors

Yale offer two lengths of fall arrest block the YLA2 8 metre and the YLA3 15 metre. Both of these units have an activation tag located in the karabiner so that a shock incident can be readily idetified so that the unit can be returned for service immediatly. The cables on both units are available in either stainless or galvanised wire.

Yale YLA4

The Yale YLA4 15 metre fall arrest retrieval block offers the same protection as the YLA2/3 with the added benifit of a recovery winch. The winch mechanism is only designed to be used in an emergency situation and is not for man riding as a normal use. The winch mechanism can be used to raise or lower in a shock instance, the lowering being more benifical in a height safety requirement i.e. scaffolding. An extra support handle cna be fitted when used on scaffolding to make the winch mode more user friendly.
