6150-06 Medium Risk (non-entrant water)

The City & Guilds Training Scheme 6150 is the New Water Industry Standard. All Water Companies participated in the formulation of this scheme to ensure that training quality is consistent and would be accepted nationally. Candidates who successfully complete higher level training, up to 6150-03, will automatically be accredited with lower risk schemes. Successful candidates will receive a certificate for each unit they pass and be placed on a national register so that achievement can be verified.

The Medium Risk (non-entrant water) event objectives are to achieve the following retained knowledge:

  • Monitoring the atmosphere and having a structured plan of action in place to deal with any anomaly, along with a reporting procedure.
  • Use of self contained breathing apparatus as part of the planned means of self rescue at NC1, NC2 and NC3 category confined spaces.
  • The candidate will not be able to enter the confined space although will have gained all the necessary knowledge so that checks of the above can be performed.

All candidates should be medically fit and will have to sign to self certificate to this extent prior to starting the course.

Certification is valid for a period of three years should the candidate successfully pass.
Note: the candidate will only be certified for 6150-06.
